The learning environment

The learning environment

At UTS Insearch, we use a blended approach to learning and teaching. You'll learn through a seamless integration of technology and face-to-face activities including online resources.
You’ll also participate in our Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) initiative, where you’ll bring your own device (either a laptop or tablet) to campus to use as part of your studies.

Learning support

Learning support

We offer free weekly one-on-one learning support sessions, which will help you to prepare for your assessments and exams. The Learning Centre runs a number of activities such as English language speaking groups, short film discussion groups, learning assistance sessions and teaching support.

Support services for English students

Support services for English students

There are several English language team staff members to assist students with their studies and ensure that all students receive the support they need. English students also have exclusive access to the HELPS Center.

The HELPS Centre has a wide range of resources for learning English, such as grammar books, dictionaries, reading and writing materials, many listening materials and listening kits, and all current IELTS material, as well as computers, DVDs, videos, newspapers and magazines.

For more information on support services for English students download the latest English handbook.

Academic advisers

Academic advisers

Our Academic Advisers will give you support and advice on your studies and help you to meet course requirements. They can also help if you experience any personal difficulties that impact your studies.

Students, including those on student  visas, have the same workplace rights as all other workers in Australia. The Fair Work Ombudsman provides free advice and support to all workers helping you understand your rights including pay and conditions, visa matters (if you are an international student) and help with workplace issues that might arise.

More information about the Fair Work Ombudsman can be found at https://www.fairwork.gov.au/find-help-for/visa-holders-and-migrant for international students or at https://www.fairwork.gov.au/find-help-for/young-workers-and-students for domestic students.

Study success sessions

Study success sessions

During Orientation, we run study success sessions to help you get a head start in your studies. In these workshops, you'll learn how to manage your study time, get the most out of lectures and tutorials and use the tutorial system.

Counselling services

Counselling services

Confidential counselling is available at UTS, if you ever need to talk to someone about academic study, finances or personal problems. A UTS counsellor is also on campus at UTS Insearch one day a week.
