If you decide to change your study load or even to study a different program after you’ve commenced, we’re here to support you. Changing programs needs careful consideration and approval from UTS College. We want you to succeed, so please let us know as soon as possible.
These pages are your guide to adding, dropping, or changing subjects and transferring to another program.
Explore the right program
Start by talking with a Student Success Adviser. They can help you work through your options and the approval process with clear, easy to understand information, and support you to make changes – if that’s what you decide to do.
How to add or drop subject
Add subject - After you’ve met with your Student Success Adviser about your study plan, you need to submit an application form to increase your study load (add a subject). It’s important to do this no later than Wednesday of Welcome Week
Drop subject - If you decide to reduce your study load (drop a subject), whether before or after enrolment, it’s important to consult your Student Success Adviser no later than Friday of Week 4 (census date). You will avoid academic and financial penalties if you make this change before the census date.
How to apply for a program transfer
Eligibility
You’re eligible to transfer to another UTS College program if you:
- Apply before the deadline
- Have completed one semester of your current program
- Haven’t failed more than two subjects in your previous semester.
If you’ve failed more than two subjects or have completed more than one semester of your current program, you’ll need to submit a personal statement with your application.
You won’t be eligible to apply If you’ve previously transferred to another UTS College program.
Deadlines Â
You can submit your application from the Results Publication Date until 5pm, Monday of Week 1 (the week classes commence).
Visa considerations
If you’re an international student, changing your program may affect the status of your student visa. It’s a good idea to speak with staff at the Student Centre to clarify the impact of any change to your study plan.
If your visa covers the period of your UTS degree you’ll also need to contact the UTS International Office (Level 3A of the UTS Building 1, Tower Building) about your change of program.
