Unlock your leadership potential

Distinguish yourself and start building your leadership skills.

In today’s highly competitive world, employers seek graduates with more than just good marks. Passion and strong leadership skills are the most desirable qualities employers look for in graduates.

The Leadership Program is offered to top performing international students who are wanting to develop an awareness of the skills necessary for success in the Australian work environment.

Three core elements of the Leadership Program

Workshop

Leadership Program students participate in a number of group activities, training and workshops to help fully immerse themselves in another culture and work life – introducing students to the concepts of leadership within a work environment and providing a head start in career development.

The workshops cover:

Cultural understanding
The Australian workplace
Improving confidence
Leadership skills, from university to career
Preparation for work experience

Fun group activity

Students who successfully complete the workshop component go on to group activity, such as climbing the iconic Sydney Harbour Bridge - a memorable experience that develops communication and team work skills.

Work Experience

A key part of the program is the opportunity to undertake work experience. During this component, students are placed in a Sydney-based company for half a day each week for a period of six weeks.

Most faculties at UTS have internships built into their degrees. However, the Leadership Program provides student with the advantage of experiencing an Australian workplace prior to commencing university study, ensuring that they are prepared and have the confidence to build strong industry connections.

Entry Criteria

There are a limited number of places offered in the Leadership Program each year. Selection is based on:

Strong High School results and high English Language (IELTS or UTS:INSEARCH Academic English) scores
Academic performance in Semester 1 at UTS:INSEARCH
