Whether you are attending UTS Insearch to study English, UTS Foundation Studies or a diploma program, we have put together some information to help you.

Discover how to:
  • change your course or timetable
  • find your classroom
  • get help with your studies
  • what to take to class
  • what happens if you miss classes.

How can I change my timetable?

If you are a continuing student, you can apply to change your timetable if you have a compassionate and compelling reason. You will also need to provide supporting documents such as a letter from your employer if you have work reasons, or letter from a doctor if it’s a health matter.

To apply to change your timetable, download the Academic Timetable Change Request Form, ensuring you read the terms and conditions. Email the completed form with all supporting documents to enrolment@insearch.edu.au. The Enrolment Team will let you know the outcome of your request via your student email within two business days.

You will need to submit your Academic Timetable Change Request form on Thursday 8 October, no later than 5pm.

Where is my class located?

All UTS Insearch programs are being delivered online via Canvas, UTS online and Zoom until further notice. It’s important that you check your UTS email before every class so you don’t miss any important information.

To help you transition, we’ve put together step-by-step instructions. Please see the following guides:
To make the most of your remote learning experience, please read our Online Learning Guide. Please also take a look at our online learning support workshops and online one-on-one learning support.

More information about Remote Learning is available at here.

How can I get help with my studies?

At UTS Insearch we are big on support.  We have established  a wide network of academic and personal support services – all  free to you.

You have access to:
  • Study Success Advisers
  • Peer tutors
  • Peer mentoring
  • Peer Helpers
  • Learning support workshops
  • HELPS Centre.

What should I bring to class?

In the same way you went to school prepared, you need to also be prepared for your classes at UTS Insearch. You will need a laptop to attend your classes. See the Digital Toolkit for more details. Your teachers will let you know what is needed for each class.

What happens if I don't attend my classes?

Class attendance plays a big part in academic success. If you’re an international student and your attendance drops below 80%, UTS Insearch is required to advise the Department of Home Affairs. This could result in the cancellation of your visa and personal reasons are not acceptable for missing classes. Examples of personal reasons include weddings, holidays or hobbies.

There may be times outside of your control causing you to be late but it’s important that you always do your best to arrive on time. Being late is disruptive to everybody - you, your classmates and teachers. When you’re late you will be marked as absent so whenever possible, try and maintain good habits by aiming to be a few minutes before class time.

Please note, you cannot change any of your classes without the permission of UTS Insearch We advise speaking with a Study Success Adviser first.
