At first glance, Brighton-Le-Sands student Michael Skoulis’ range of interests and passions look contradictory - fashion, kickboxing, motorcycles and statistics.

However, for Michael all these activities are part of who he is as a person. Michael has also worked out that following in the family tradition of building a business adds up.

After graduating from St Spyridon’s College, Maroubra, he trained as an electrician before realising he wanted to be an entrepreneur.

“Entrepreneurship is in my blood. My grandad owns a hotel in Darlinghurst. My Dad manages the hotel business and  runs a bottle shop and a café. Also, my mum runs a cleaning business which is doing well,” Michael said.

“I would like to open my own boutique streetwear store. I would design designer streetwear with a focus on selling trendy shoes. It would be like the Japanese fashion brand, Rag & Bone.”

For now, Michael is focussed on building on his success as the UTS Insearch Outstanding Graduate for the Diploma of Business in his UTS degree – a Bachelor of Business in Finance.

“I just keep driving forward,” he said. “It was like learning to ride my motorcycle - I had to push through. I’ll keep doing that and the future will work itself out.”
