COST OF LIVING

The cost of living in Sydney really depends on your lifestyle. As a guide, you will need A$17,500 at a minimum for living expenses for one year (covering accomodation, transport and food but not entertainment or a car). An initial cost of roughly A$3,000 is needed to cover rental bonds, furniture, electricity and telephone. You only need to pay this once.

Other expenses include text books, study aids and insurence. New text books cost up to A$600 per year and many can be bought second hand. UTS union fees are included in INSEARCH academic course tuition fees.

To be granted a student visa, you will need to take out Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC), which must be paid at the same time as your tuition fees. OSHC Covers you for emergency medical attention through the public health system in Australia. Extra insurance is available to cover such services as physiotherapy, optical or dental care, ambulance or admission to a private hospital.

WORKING PART-TIME AS A STUDENT

As and international student you are legally allowed to work for up to 20 hours per week during semesters and unlimited hours during your holidays. Sydney is Australia�s biggest city and has more businesses and companies than any other in Australia. Most students will find some form of part-time work during their stay with us.
