Excellence in teaching English

With over 25 years of experience, we are one of the most respected English Language providers in Australia. This is backed by our teachers, who are amongst the most highly trained in the industry with an average of 15 years’ teaching experience.

Tour participants can be integrated into existing classes at UTS:INSEARCH or customised classes can be arranged for groups, tailored to their English level and area of interest.

The following English classes are available:

  • General English
The General English program establishes the groundwork for English language development, provides the skills required for academic study and prepares you for the Academic English (AE) program.
  • Academic English
Academic English Level 5 (AE5) prepares you for studying at university.
  • IELTS test preparation
This program will thoroughly prepare you with the strategies and skills required for the IELTS test. You will learn how to approach the tasks in the listening, reading, writing, and speaking modules of the IELTS test.
  • Academic English for research
Tailored for candidates undertaking a UTS postgraduate research degree, either at PhD or masters level, who need to enhance their Academic English skills for research purposes.
  • English Language Teacher training
Take a course leading to the award of the Certificate of English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA) – a qualification to teach English in Australia and overseas. We have delivered CELTA courses since 1992 and our trainers are highly experienced, with qualifications which include Masters Degrees in Linguistics, TESOL or Adult Education and the Cambridge Diploma in English Language Training to Adults (DELTA).
This program can be coupled with classroom observations on campus or excursions to local schools to enhance your learning experience.

Hear what students have to say about our Study Tours

“I have learned about academic English and how to speak English with students from other countries. It is challenging to learn English but my skills have really improved since I started; I really enjoy writing in English.

On my study tour I’ve improved my vocabulary and it’s been a really good experience. The study tour was really valuable. I made a lot of friends. On the weekends, we went with friends from UTS to beaches and the Blue Mountains.

Every day was really fulfilling.”

Sho Chida
High School student from Japan

“Sydney is very peaceful and abundant in nature; it’s really different from Seoul and Korea. In Seoul there is a lot of machinery and big cities whereas in Sydney there are parks in the city.

I did an amazing race where I had to get photos with Australians posing to make a heart. I also saw the Opera ‘La Boheme’ at the Opera House, whilst

I couldn’t understand it, as it was in Italian, I really enjoyed it! It was so good and I was really amazed.

I found the course relatively easy and very interesting. I’ve enjoyed meeting new people and making new friends. The teachers, they’ve been very kind and helpful.

I feel more confident with my English. I’ve tried speaking with people in English and feel more comfortable and encouraged to do so.”

Young Hun Jeong
High school student from Korea

“It’s been amazing; I’ve really enjoyed it and all the new friends I’ve made. We’ve done so much and seen many iconic sites and performances. Sydney is really multicultural, I’ve made new friends from different cultures and backgrounds. The teachers are really passionate and caring at UTS:INSEARCH, I’ve already recommended UTS:INSEARCH to my friends and want to come back to study here again.

I like studying English but find grammar and pronunciation hard and wanted to study it in an English speaking country. I wanted to meet new people and gain a new perspective for my education.

Studying at UTS:INSEARCH has definitely improved my conversational English and my confidence. It has made me more open-minded.”
