MISSED OUT ON UNIVERSITY?
HERE'S THE PLAN:

If you have your heart set on going to the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS) a less than expected ATAR doesn't have to be the end of that dream. Enrol at INSEARCH!

Note: A student's pathway depends on the Grade Point Average (GPA) they achieve. Please view admission requirements.

YOUR PATHWAY TO SUCCESS
INSEARCH is a registered higher education institution and a pathway provider to the University of Technology, Sydney (UTS). INSEARCH delivers higher education diplomas and on behalf of UTS, UTS Foundation Studies.

INSEARCH offers pathways to UTS in the areas of:

INSEARCH has been educating students for over twenty years and is an important part of the UTS community. INSEARCH students have access to UTS facilities which enables them to experience university life while studying at INSEARCH. The majority of INSEARCH diploma courses provide up to 48 credit points of advanced standing, which is equivalent to one year of study at UTS.

DIPLOMA COURSES
Australian students (and permanent residents) graduating from the new INSEARCH diplomas (from Semester Two 2010 onwards) are guaranteed a place in the corresponding undergraduate degree at UTS if they achieve a pre-specified GPA (Grade Point Average) in their INSEARCH diploma. The required GPA will change from year-to-year. Please click here for current GPA requirements.

If the published GPA requirement is above the actual GPA requirement for a specific intake, then applicants will be considered for an offer based on the lower, actual GPA requirement. Please note that CSP places for all UTS undergraduate courses are available for the Autumn (February) intake. The Business, Engineering and Information Technology faculties at UTS also offer mid-year (July) intakes for INSEARCH diploma students through Direct Application to UTS. The direct application form is available from the Insearch Student Services Office from 19 April 2010.

Graduates from the INSEARCH diplomas accepted into a relevant UTS undergraduate degree of their choice will receive up to 48 credit points of recognised prior learning (RPL) or advanced standing. Please click here for details.

Graduates who started their INSEARCH diploma prior to Semester Two, 2010 are eligible to apply for admission on a competitive basis.

Diploma Articulation to UTS - How to Apply
Applicants for UTS Autumn semester who complete their Insearch studies by September must apply through UAC. Applicants who complete their Insearch studies in February must lodge a direct application available in August from the Insearch Student Centre.

Applicants from UTS Spring semester must lodge a direct application available in April from the INSEARCH Student Centre.

UTS FOUNDATION STUDIES
Offered on behalf of the University of Technology, Sydney, UTS Foundation Studies is a pathway to UTS undergraduate degree programs and INSEARCH higher education diplomas. Designed for students who do not meet the admission requirements for direct entry, UTS Foundation Studies is offered as an 8 month program.

Students can choose from six different streams: Architecture and Design, Arts and Social Sciences, Business, Nursing and Health Sciences, Information Technology, or Physical Sciences. Each stream contains two core subjects, Academic English and Digital Literacies, and three subjects related to the discipline of the stream.

Domestic Students: UTS Foundation Studies to INSEARCH Diploma

On completion of the UTS Foundation Studies Program, Domestic students will be offered a place in an INSEARCH Diploma if they meet the academic (10 point GPAs) requirements - these can be found on the individual UTS Foundation Studies pages or by clicking here.

Domestic Students: UTS Foundation Studies to 1st year of UTS Degree

Domestic students who satisfactorily complete UTS Foundation Studies at Insearch must compete with other non-current school leavers for the offer of a Commonwealth Supported Place (CSP) at UTS.

Students receive a GPA (Grade Point Average) on a 10-point scale when they complete the UTS Foundation Studies program. Domestic students’ GPAs are then converted to a nominal ATAR (Australian Tertiary Entry Rank). UTS uses the nominal ATAR to determine whether an offer will be made.

The ATAR cut-offs for UTS courses are determined each year and may vary from year to year and from course to course. In the semester before domestic students apply for a place at UTS, Insearch will organise an information session to inform them of the process and the likely requirements. Students can also discuss transfer details with an Insearch Academic Adviser at any stage.

The UTS Foundation Studies program meets the requirements for Foundation Programs which have been registered on CRICOS for delivery in Australia to overseas students providing an academic preparation for seeking entry to first year undergraduate study or its equivalent.
