Overview

DEEP is recognised as an official English entry qualification by UTS. Successful completion allows direct acceptance into UTS without having to sit external tests such as IELTS, providing you meet the other requirements for entry into the course of your choice.
Students must enrol in DEEP for a minimum of ten weeks of consecutive study, although actual length of study time will depend on your individual English level and progress. The course is divided into two levels, each five weeks in duration running 8.30am – 1.00pm Monday to Friday.
To enter DEEP you must have
- IELTS 6.0 with 6.0 in writing / TOEFL 550 (213 computer-based score) plus TWE 4.5; or
- Completed the INSEARCH Academic English Program (AEP) Level 9; or
- Sit for and achieve an appropriate score in the UTS:INSEARCH English placement test.
If your IELTS or TOEFL results are less than those required for entry to DEEP, additional English study must be completed.
Entry to UTS
Please note that successful completion of the DEEP course with a minimum grade of C meets the English entry requirement for all UTS courses except Arts and Social sciences degrees in nursing, midwifery and health. Entry into Arts and Social Sciences degrees in nursing, midwifery and health requires a minimum grade of B+. Students wishing to undertake courses in teacher education must obtain an A grade on the completion of DEEP.
